ORIGAMI …

Fashion is an ever-changing process. It’s a constant evolution. It evolves day to day, every single day of our lives. Just like every day brings something new, in fashion every season brings new trends. These trends are created by those who understand that various aspects of our lives can bring monotony but there should be upbeat, at least one aspect. Fashion, which should be upbeat, different, quick with the possibility to explore. For this many of them go to all lengths to find that one thing which excites us and awakens our senses, leaves everybody in awe and admiration. One of such thing I have noticed is the fascination with “Origami”. Time and again fashion designers have played with this form of art. To state a few instances in 1996, in the issue of Metropolis, there was a line of mesmerisine clothes aptly quoted “Origami”: The ultimate convertible. In 1998, Prada intermingled its new sport line truely inspired by Origami and 1999, Calvin Klein presented a collection of dresses, again the theme was Origami. Let me indulge you in the world of “Origami”.
Origami is the form of art which is created by folding squares of paper of different sizes and colours. The results are beautiful sculptures of paper. This art form originated in China and took about four hundred years to reach Japan where it became a significant part of the ceremonial life of Japanese nobility. Origami became one of the means of social stratification. This art form not only evolved in Asia but also North Africa, Spain, North and South America. A widely noted artist Leonardo Da Vinci study Origami and we can see that in his illustrations for Lewis Carrolls “Through the looking glass”. Origami can satisfy any curiosity from flowers and animals, automobiles and planes, to boxes and envelopes!
I now present my collection inspired by this great form of Art – “Origami”
